Corneel Geerts Transportgroup relies on Orditool to read out its tachographs automatically and to digitise the stock management of its spare parts. That gives it the insight to deploy its fleet to best effect.
After Corneel Geerts Transportgroup was founded in 1962, the family business grew into a household name on the market as a groupage specialist for SMEs looking for one accessible carrier and forwarder for all their transport across Europe. Today the three grandsons are the third generation at the head of the company. They watch over the further sustainable growth of Corneel Geerts Transportgroup, always with an eye for the smooth service it is known for and for the human touch that has been the driving force behind the success of the Wijnegem carrier for sixty years.
Fast, accurate and complete
The fleet of Corneel Geerts Transportgroup today counts 150 vehicles and 200 trailers. Where the tachographs used to be read out by hand, this now happens entirely digitally and automatically. The carrier owes that to the software and the plug-and-play digiDL hardware from Orditool. “Not only is the read-out much faster now, the data is also more accurate and complete”, says transport manager Sven Geerts. “On the one hand this helps as a check on payroll processing and lets us point out to our drivers when they are not respecting driving and rest times. On the other hand we now also get through inspections more easily, because everything is perfectly documented.”
The tachograph data also offers a solid digital basis for analysing how the drivers perform and how transport can best be planned. “Originally the solution went no further than reading out the tachographs, but I was also curious about the insights they have to offer. Orditool then listened to my needs and developed the software further so that we can get the maximum out of the data. That speaks not only for the quality of the solution, but also for the flexibility of Orditool and their appetite for working out solutions tailored to the customer.”
Workshop management
Corneel Geerts Transportgroup also uses Orditool to digitise its workshop management. The stock of spare parts is held in the software. On the job sheet the mechanic notes which parts he has used for a service, after which they automatically disappear from the stock in the system. When the stock of a given item reaches a lower limit, the software orders new parts from the right supplier and at the lowest price.
